How Much CBD is in Hemp Flower?

CBD flowers, just like cannabis flowers, can vary considerably in terms of total cannabinoid content.

If the flowers are grown and sold as per federal law, they will contain less than 0.3% THC and if it’s a high-CBD strain, the amounts of CBC, CBG, and CBN will be negligible at best.

But what about CBD, how much of this cannabinoid do hemp flowers contain?

How Much CBD is in Hemp Flower?

The CBD content of CBD hemp flowers varies from around 8% to 22% on average, but it can exceed 30% and many older and less potent strains will dip below 8%.

These figures are advertised clearly on all CBD strains and it’s one of the first things that you will see. It’s also something that reputable companies are able to prove, using third-party testing and certificates of analysis (COAs) to back up their claims.

The percentage amount tells you how much cannabinoid is found in the dry product. For instance, if you purchase 1 gram of hemp flower that contains 10% CBD, it means you’ll get 100mg of CBD.

How Much Should I Use?

There is really no upper ceiling on how much CBD should be used, just as there is no lower threshold for all users. It really all depends on what your tolerance level is and how sensitive you are to these compounds.

Generally, the recommended dose is anywhere from 50mg to 300mg per session. It all depends on your experience level, sensitivity, and how you’re consuming the CBD.

With hemp flower, you should look to consume less, as you’re also getting the synergistic benefits of terpenes and other cannabinoids.

Most hemp flower users consume around 200mg to 600mg per session, equating to anywhere from a couple of bowls to a joint. If you’re inexperienced or using a very strong strain you should err on the smallest side of this dose.

If you have been smoking for a long-time and are not particularly sensitive to the effects, go big!
