A Guide To Sour Tsunami Hemp Strain Review

Sour Tsunami was one of the first strains to be bred for its high-CBD content, kick-starting an age of cannabidiol that followed the signing of the 2018 Farm Bill. It was developed by Lawrence Ringo of the Southern Humboldt Seed Collective following years of research. Today, it remains one of the most popular Sativa-dominant hemp strains in the United States.

Sour Tsunami was initially bred from a combination of Sour Diesel and NYC Diesel, which were then bred again with a clone of Sour Diesel. The result, something he named Double Diesel, was crossed with the Ferrari strain and then back with Sour Diesel, and Sour Tsunami was born.

This strain produces dense buds with bold green and purple colors, as well as sour and gassy fragrances reminiscent of its unique parentage.

This Sativa-dominant hybrid typically flowers within 9 weeks and produces a high yield of fragrant buds, offering up to 16 ounces per square meter. It can be grown indoors or outdoors and has proven to be popular in California, where it was first created. It can also be found in Oregon.

Sour Tsunami is very potent and stands out even amongst the strongest CBD strains. Depending on the growing season and on factors such as climate, soil, harvest time, and more, it can produce over 22% CBD at just 0.9% delta-9 THC.

Its most prominent effects have been described as relaxing and uplifting. It may also help to soothe pain and reduce inflammation, with only mild side effects, including dry mouth and dry eyes, being reported. As with all CBD hemp flowers, however, they are not designed to treat or cure any medical conditions and should not be used in place of prescription medications.

Everyone responds differently, but generally, Sour Tsunami is praised for its mild sedation and therapeutic effects.

The name “Sour Tsunami” hints at an onslaught of sour flavors, which is exactly what this strain provides. It has notes of pine and wood, with sweet undertones of gas and some subtle fruity flavors.

Its main terpenes include Myrcene, Pinene, and Caryophyllene. Individually, these compounds produce aromas of fresh pine needles, bitter hops, cracked black pepper, and sweet mango. Together, they create the flavors that have made the Sour Tsunami strain one of the best in the business.

These compounds are also thought to be responsible for many of the health benefits of Sour Tsunami and of hemp flowers in general. They are the main constituent of essential oils and have been the subject of countless studies suggesting they can help with everything from inflammation and pain to stress and insomnia.

Higher CBD levels are usually preferred, but as that’s not where all of the benefits come from, you shouldn’t dismiss lower CBD varieties.

It’s somewhat rare to find Sativa-dominant CBD strains and that, along with the unique flavor profiles, aromas, and high-CBD levels, makes Sour Tsunami a unique varietal. We recommend purchasing some top-shelf Sour Tsunami hemp flowers to explore the very best of this strain, sampling its light resin content, dark green buds, and diesel flavors.

Pre-rolls are also a great way to enjoy this CBD-rich strain. Just make sure you purchase from a reputable grower producing premium crops and using hand-trimmed, slow-cured flowers.
