Matterhorn is a high-CBG strain that can trace its roots back to some of the biggest industrial hemp strains in Europe, including the reliable Carmagnola.
Its seeds provide growers with a cheap way to produce a reliable yield and its flowers offer a rich source of the “mother cannabinoid”.
Matterhorn Hemp Flower Review
Matterhorn’s roots are in Europe, but the strain was brought to the United States by High Grade Hemp Seed (HGH), who saw its potential for the burgeoning US CBG marketplace.
We don’t know a great deal about this flower just yet, because like many other Americans, we haven’t been able to get our hands on it, but that should change in the near future.
What we do know is that Matterhorn was bred by Italian-breeder Matthias Ghidossi of Swiss Cannabinoid.
It is said to have a fresh aroma of lime and lemon and is being produced for its potential to create high-quality extracts, as well as delicious smokable flowers.
Under ideal conditions, the CBG content of Matterhorn should be around 15%, with THC content fixed at a marginal 0.1% or so.
The low THC levels mean it can be left to mature in the fields without worrying about it creeping over that 0.3% legal limit. It’s also a resilient plant and can flourish in any weather.
The plant itself is very big and bushy, hinting at its industrial European background. In fact, its parent strain, Carmagnola, has been utilized as a fiber crop for a number of years.
Benefits and Flavors
As Matterhorn contains only trace amounts of THC (even less than other legal hemp flowers) you know you’re getting something that won’t produce noticeable psychoactive effects or leave you with side effects such as dry eyes, nausea, and confusion.
It’s ideal, therefore, for sensitive smokers who want to experience the therapeutic effects of CBG without worrying about the effects of THC.
CBG is thought to provide many anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects and could help to ease pain, alleviate anxiety, and boost the mood. It can be enjoyed any time of day and is often thought to have many medicinal effects.
If you’re using Matterhorn CBG for its medicinal benefits and super low-THC content, just remember that while these smokable flowers won’t have the same effect as marijuana, they will look and smell the same, and this can be problematic if you reside in an area where cannabis is still tightly restricted.
