A Guide to Lemon Drop Hemp Flowers

Like so many great strains, the origins of the Lemon Drop CBD strain are a little uncertain, but while its roots have been forgotten, its unique aromas and flavors definitely won’t be.

Lemon Drop hits hard, enveloping the senses and clearing away your mental fog.

Lemon Drop CBD Hemp Flower Review

Lemon Drop hemp flowers aren’t that common, and farmers seem to prefer other citrus strains like Sour Space Candy. That’s a shame, though, as these buds are fluffy, frosty, and covered with beautiful orange hairs.

We did find a couple of brands selling these smokable flowers, but you’ll have to pay top dollar if you want a top-shelf variety, with the average price coming in at around $130 to $160 per ounce.

Cannabinoid Content

Cannabinoid content varies depending on the phenotype, but if we use Cannaflower’s Lemon Drop as an example, it contains a little over 15% CBDa, with 0.26% CBD and 0.47% THCa. The CBG levels hover around 0.12%.

Lemon Drop Aroma and Flavors

Lemon Drop is as sour, bitter, and sweet as its name suggests. The citrus fragrance will hit you first, but you will also detect aromas of earth and pine.

When you take your first drag, those earthier tones will become more pronounced while the citrus notes make for an incredibly clean and refreshing smoke. The flavors may be too much for some users, but they are generally very smooth, fresh, and enjoyable.

Terpene Profile

Myrcene is the main terpene in Lemon Drop, but the strain also contains very high concentrations of Limonene and Pinene. It’s these compounds that lend the flowers their unique flavors.

Limonene is found in citrus fruits, delivering aromas of lemon juice, orange rind, and grapefruit. It’s one of the most abundant terpenes in hemp and it’s the reason so many strains have those distinctive citrus flavors.

As for Pinene, it’s the compound that lends pine its unique aromas. It’s also highly concentrated with turpentine, which is created by distilling resin from pine trees.

Combined, these two compounds produce the bitter, sharp, and woody aromas associated with Lemon Drop hemp flowers.

Benefits of Lemon Drop Hemp Flowers

To paraphrase Judy Garland, your troubles will melt like lemon drops when you take that first toke and enjoy the rich, bitter, and tongue-twisting flavors of this potent strain. It’s uplifting more than sedating, but the initial effects are calming and heady, clearing your head of the day’s stresses and worries.

Those niggling concerns will be replaced by a burst of creativity and focus, thus helping to make you more productive. It’s the perfect strain for artists, writers, and musicians who need a daytime pick-me-up, and it can even be used as a social smoke.

Closing Thoughts: Lemon Drop Hemp Flowers

The lemon drop candy is iconic and known for its bitter, eye-popping sourness. It originated in the United Kingdom but has been enjoyed throughout the US for over 200 years. It was featured in Harry Potter and The Wizard of Oz, and it even inspired a fruity, sour cocktail and vodka shot of the same name.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and the bitterness can be a little overwhelming for some. As you might suspect, the same is true for the Lemon Drop hemp strain. It’s deliciously fruity and sweet but the sourness and freshness might be too much for some.

If you like citrus-scented hemp flowers and enjoy strains with uplifting and energetic varietals, try Lemon Drop today.
